
Summit is our annual leaders conference. It’s a time to connect with other Royal Rangers leaders, develop and sharpen your skills.
This year, Summit is happening April 10-11. Here is a preview of what’s going on:
Classes
All Classes are eight hours except First Aid/CPR

The Ranger Foundations training course provides leaders with foundational principles for conducting a successful Royal Rangers outpost meeting. Topics include the safety & supervision of boys, our mission & methods, outpost structure & leadership, the leader training process, conducting outpost meetings, curriculum and resources, uniforms & insignia, advancement system, patrol system, and annual program planning.

Ranger Essentials is a one-day fun, interactive-style training event. You will learn how to connect with today’s boys, along with recognizing ministry needs and outreach opportunities. You will discover how to give life-changing devotions and how to mentor boys and young men into spiritual leaders.

First Aid and CPR (Leaders and Expedition Rangers) An American Safety & Health Institute Course in Standard First Aid, BLS Adult, child and infant CPR and AED. Unlike in past years, this will be offered as a blended course and certification will be for two years.Cost of course must be paid in full at time of pre-registration along with a valid email & phone number for online class registration.

Leadership Merit 206 (For 4th graders and above)
Leadership Merit 206 is about learning to plan to reach your full potential, the importance of a good attitude, and integrity. Additionally you will identify needs that your patrol and outpost may have the ability to meet. You will also engage in a local service project.

Black Powder – This seminar is an NRA certified class. In this class you will gain the basic knowledge, skill, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of muzzle loading firearms. The class will include classroom instruction, time on a range shooting muzzle loading rifles. Some of the topics covered are, safety, black powder, muzzleloader parts, accessories, loading techniques, marksmanship fundamentals, cleaning and storage. A test score of 85 or above is required to pass this class.
*There is an additional cost of $80, if you have your own supplies. Additional supplies can be provided at a nominal additional cost.
The NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course This course develops NRA Certified Range Safety Officers with the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. Attendees must be age 21 or above. This course is eight hours long and is conducted in a classroom. Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and a Course Evaluation form.
The NRA Basic Archery Instructor (BAI) course trains individuals to teach foundational archeryskills, emphasizing safety, range setup, and equipment maintenance. It focuses on enabling instructors to lead beginner programs for all ages, covering the 11 steps of archery success, coaching techniques, and risk management, often within the context of the National Archery in the Schools Program

Continuous Learning Electives
One goal of the 2026 Summit is to offer three District Level Continuous Learning Electives (CLE). This will help leaders meet one of the CLE requirements of the Trained level of their OLAL. Continuous Learning Electives (CLE) are training events intended to expand a leader’s skills or competencies beyond those received through the Outpost Leader Advancement Level (OLAL) processes.

How to extend Royal Rangers beyond the Outpost This guided discussion will explore best practices, helpful ideas, and effective methods that outposts are using to Reach more Boys than ever, More Effectively than ever. Come prepared to share and learn from each other.

Special Guest Speaker
Rev. Tom Sember

Tom and his wonderful wife Carolyn have been married for 41 years. They have 3 Daughters and their husbands along with three Grandchildren and one on the way. Tom has been involved with ministering to men for over 30 years. He served as the NYMN Men’s Director. He currently pastors Expressway AG in Buffalo NY. He authors the daily devotion for the National AG Men’s Ministry, and for Maletime Ministries, as well as other resources which can be found by visiting men.ag.org. He is a 20-year veteran of the Buffalo Fire Dept., where an accident took most of his hearing. His current schedule includes speaking engagements to encourage men to be all that God has called men to be, working with the men’s groups, traveling to churches and helping set up men’s events. Tom’s book “Answering The Call” is available on Amazon.
